Abstract: A common control problem associated with gas distribution and transmission systems is that of system prssure control. Defining the problem further, the requirement is generally to control the system pressure between predefined limits regardless of the load demands on the system. The method of control chosen, commonly referred to as the control strategy to be used, is generally dependent on the amount of fluctuation in pressure that can be tolerated by the system in question.
