Title: New Measurement Practices For Cold Climates
Author: Mark Menezes
Source: 2015 Canadian School of Hydrocarbon Measurement
Year Published: 2015
Abstract: When measurements are installed outdoors where the ambient temperature can fall below -30C - which describes all of Alberta - the user should be concerned about poor accuracy, slow response, poor reliability and unreadable displays. The traditional approach is to winterize - use heated enclosures and heat traced sensing lines and capillaries. Traditional winterization incurs high capital and operating costs, poor performance as well as potential reliability and safety risks.
