Abstract: Using tones in telemetering systems requires specific equipment to generate and separate a precise frequency tone over a wide variety of environmental conditions. These pieces of equipment derive their names from the function required of each and are used in conjunction with various transducers and a communication link. In many cases this link is a voice grade telephone pair.
