Abstract: The principal forms of primary devices, or differential producers, are the thin plate concentric orifice, the flow nozzle, and the venturi tube. The use of the venturi tube can be justified when low head loss is essential and sometimes when the measured field is carrying solids which would collect in front of an orifice plate or flow nozzle.
