Title: Alternative Shoring Technologies

Abstract: The Gas Technology Institute (GTI) is developing alternative shoring systems that meet the specific needs of gas utility companies. Traditional shoring systems are not versatile enough to accommodate increasingly congested excavations. Additionally, traditional shoring systems are heavy, difficult to transport and install, and expensive. Alternative shoring systems are being developed at GTI that are lightweight and versatile enough to be built around other crossing utility lines. The goal of this program is to increase the use of shoring in congested excavations and decrease the time and cost associated with transporting and installing shoring.
