Abstract: Natural gas is recognized as the cheapest, safest, cleanest and most convenient energy in the history of human endeavor. Nevertheless, countless barriers are thrown in the path of explorers for gas by puzzling and emotional changes and interpretations of the law and incomprehensible decisions of the federal judiciary, including the Supreme Court. I do not believe that the threats to our domestic gas supply are sufficiently clear to the public. I think that many people who have favored the unrealistic control of natural gas prices ignore the way our economic system works. One point they overlook is that the law of supply and demand governs. If we put a floor under prices, we create a surplus if we put a ceiling on prices, we create a shortage. This is simply what has happened to our supply of natural gas.
