Abstract: The scope of this paper is limited to information about undesirable sound, that is noise. The objective of the author is to present a collection of useful information on noise and noise measurement. To be useful to you this informa- tion must concern itself with noise from hydrocarbon processing equipment. It must include both general background information and specific examples. It must deal with theories and with practical applications. And, most of all, it must communicate clearly.
