Abstract: Operating and maintenance practices for gas distribution systems have, by and large. been mandated by law. The Office of Pipeline Safety and our Public Utility Commissions have promulgated various rules and regulations regarding the practices that we shall use. These regulations provide the general ground rules for our practices each company must develop its plan in accordance with these ground rules to provide for the necessary mechanisms to put the plan in operation. Because of the broad interpretation that can be taken from present regulations, I would like to take this opportunity to explain nur operating and maintenance practices with plastic pipe.
