Abstract: Since the first test data was published by U.S. Geo logical Survey in 1913, orifice meters have been one of the most widely used devices f or measuring gas flow. The publicly available data sets and the relatively simple technology ensured the growth of an innovative, competitive market that continues to push the boundaries of orifice metering applications. While the core principals of orifice metering remain unchanged over the past century, the maintenance and operation continue to evolve to meet the challenges presented by new meter designs, tighter tolerances and unnatural, natural gas flows.
