Abstract: In the present article the authors present results from model cavities using numerical simulations, visualisations and Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV). The agreement between the three different methods is good, both inside the cavities and in the main flow past the cavities. The present results show that the combination of using experimental investigation together with numerical simulations is a powerful tool when investigating complex flow structures.
