Abstract: The Philadelphia Electric Company fleet is made up of some 2,700 vehicles - passenger cars, light to heavy trucks, construction equipment, and trailers of all sizes. The Maintenance Section of Transportation Division has 206 employees from the Superintendent to Helpers among these are 107 mechanics. Inspections and repairs performed by these mechanics are recorded on a Vehicle Repair Order, divided into 113 categories, eight of which are inspections. Information from the VROs is key punched and added to the Maintenance Data Information System for a monthly update which is run on the first Tuesday of each month and Is delivered to Transportation on Wednesday. Included among these reports are two vehicle inspection print outs: (1) the State Inspection report and (2) the Preventive Maintenance report, which together include the inspections on the following pages where they are explained in somewhat greater detail.
