Abstract: The contents of this paper describe a selected number of techniques utiliaing the laser interferometer as a laboratory standard. Since the Lasers implementation into the calibration system as a standard of length, numerous applications have evolved. The first of these techniques originated when the laboratory was requested to perform a dimensional analysis, to very accurately establish several hole locations, on a master tooling plate. Conventional measuring instruments were inadequate because of the tight hole location tolerance, less than t.0001. The plate size was approximately 12 X 24. with holes located from .250Vf to 19.00011 apart.
