Abstract: The paper presents the solving of the necessity of the analytical calibration of gas variable area flowmeters (VAF) according to an original methodology to determine experimentally the conversion curves of flow scale of gas VAF using only a single liquid instead of a lot of gases. The analytical bases are obtained starting from the principles of theory of hydraulic similitude applied to VAF and after an adequate processing of the analytical equation of Reynolds number for VAF. This methodology uses only the cheapest fluid (water) and the cheapest installation instead of a lot of gases and a complex and very expensive installation
