Title: New Design Developments Simplify Calibrator Support

Abstract: Supporting the calibration of high precision instruments can be a costly business. It is costly both in terms of the equipment to facilitate the adjustments and in the down-time associated with removing the instrument from service for the adjustment process. In order to reduce the increasing costs and simplify the support process, manufacturers of precision instruments such as digital multimeters and multifunction calibrators, are incorporating reference standards and measurement systems internally. This internal circuitry has the ability to automatically and independently make many of the measurements and intercomparisons formerly reserved for operations in a standards and calibration laboratory.
