Abstract: Packaging, shipping, handling and storage of polyethylene pipe and tubing is our topic. Our objective is to provide for safe efficient handling of this pipe while it is being transported or in storage or in the process of being installed. The old ground rules, which developed for handling rigid metallic pipe, have been changing as we commit ourselves to ever increasing use of flexible pipe such as polyethylene. Some changes have been made. There are, however, still some very real challenges to those of us in materials management or in operations to optimise safe efficient handling of polyethylene pipe.
