Abstract: In our Transmission and Distribution Departments training section at the Washington Gas Light Company (WGLCO), a magnetic situation board has become a very effective training aid in evaluating our field personnels knowledge of emergency procedures, and their ability to make correct decisions pertaining to emergency response. I will attempt to illustrate the components of our situation board as well as how to set up various actual incidents and hypothetical emergency situations designed to enable personnel to improve their skills. I will not illustrate or discuss my companys emergency procedures, since I feel each of you has your procedures and order of priorities based on your individual operating experience.
