Abstract: Most petroleum products are measured and sold on a volumetric basis. In other words, product is often sold in U.S. Gallons or petroleum barrels. However, they are nonetheless transferred on a mass basis in actuality. These seemingly contradictory statements can be easily explained by going back to the basics.
