Title: Progress And Problems With The Implementation Of The IS0 Guide On Uncertainty
Author: Carroll Croarkin

Abstract: The National Institute of Standards and Technology has recently adopted a guideline for uncertainty analysis which follows the spirit of the recently published IS0 Guide. This has the advantage of standardizing on a method of presentation which is easily transportable from one calibration hierarchy to another. The statistical ramifications of this approach have been addressed by the previous speaker, Keith Eberhardt. In this talk, we cover some of the practical problems that NIST scientists, technicians, and statisticians have encountered in implementing the new policy and strategies for dealing with these problems.
