Title: Offshore Pipeline Construction Methods For Deep Water
Author: W. R. Rochelle

Abstract: Submarine pipelines are now being constructed in over 300 feet of water. The immediate challenge is in rough waters of 500 to 600 feet deep. The next goal could be in the depth range of 2,000 feet. The immediate challenge is being met by the development of new techniques both analytically and through experience, and through the design and construction of extended capability laying, burying, welding, underwater joining, inspection and navigation equipment. Concurrently, the development and design of more sophisticated equipment such as dynamically positioned and column stabilized barges for very deep and/or very rough water is continuing.
