Abstract: Many of the natural gas fields of the United States contain hydrogen sulphide in varying amounts. These amounts range from seventy per cent of the total to only a few parts per million. Its origin is uncertain but is probably due to organic or inorganic action or sulfur beds located in the vicinity of oil and/or gas deposits.
