Abstract: Leakage and Unaccounted for Gas continues to be a critical component in the Natural Gas Industry. As the Natural Gas Industry continues to evolve and become more competitive, now more than ever before, natural gas pipelines must assure that leakage and unaccounted for gas is held to a minimum. Following is a discussion on what leakage and unaccounted for gas is how it is determined why it must be controlled and measures that can be taken to minimize it. The discussion to follow is from the perspective of an interstate natural gas transmission company, and may not encompass fully all of the individual issues for the industry as a whole.
