Abstract: Conventional ways of using large templates, gage and coordinate measuring machines (cmms) for measuring large structures in the manufacturing industries are extremely laborious, time consuming and expensive. Very often, trying to measure a large structure on a cmm would require several days of setting up and aligning the structure with the measuring system. The need for an advanced, portable, high-speed and accurate measuring system for large-dimensional measurements is imminent.
