Abstract: Consumers Power Company is a combination electric and gas utility serving 1,200,000 electric and 950,000 gas customers in Michigans Lower Peninsula. The Companys service area is divided into fifteen commercial operating Divisions. The Material Services Operations coiisisl of one major distribution storeroom in each Division and several satellite storerooms. The Division storeroom in our Company Headquarters city of Jackson serves as a combination wholesale and retail type distribution center. Certain materials are purchased as central stock because there is definite price advantage, availability benefit or need for incoming material quality control inspection.
