Abstract: In the 1940s and 1950s, the aerospace industry demanded compact, reliable and accurate flow metering equipment to measure the flow of jet fuels and rocket propellants. This demand was met successfully by the instrument industry by developing the precision turbine flowmeter. Turbine meter designs soon spread to meet applications in many areas of industrial flow measurement.
