Abstract: The measurement of descrete particles of netter has been performed for many years. Since the late 1950s autmatic particle counters and sizers have been available for this type of measurement. Particle technology has grown considerably since the first particle counter. For instance, Climet Instruments Ccmpahy manufactured their first particle counter, an airborne particle counter in the fall of 1967. The unit had a flow rate of 0.1 cubic foot per minute, sensitivity of 0.3 micraneter , and an analog meter readout. Figure 1. It weighed about 165 pounds. V&en Climet first manufactured this particle counter, there were three particle counter manufacturers in the United States.
