Abstract: This paper provides an overview of modern flowmetering technologies commonly used to measure the flow of oil in hydrocarbon production and refining applications. It identifies the primary requirements for oil flowmeters and compares the performance of the turbine, positive displacement, Coriolis and ultrasonic meters against these criteria.
