Abstract: The primary and most accurate method for characterization of natural gas for computations of compressibility/supercompressibility factors using equation-of-state methods is a complete compositional analysis where mole fractions of all components are accurately known from experimental measurements. However, when complete compositional analysis for a natural gas is not available, alternate characterization methods are used. This research presents methods for gas mixture characterization when compositional analyses are not available. These methods reduce computation times dramatically, while maintaining high levels of accuracy for the compressibility/supercompressibility factor predictions.
