Abstract: For the purpose of this paper, a basic high pressure station incorporating both regulation and measurement will be outlined. The principles discussed here will handle any inlet pressure over 60 psig. There are three considerations when designing a high pressure regulation and measurement station. The first consideration is purpose. The design should conform to industry accepted standards for regulation and measurement. The second consideration is safety. Minimum safety standards are established by Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 192 (CFR 192). And the third consideration is simplification of material. Simplification of material usually leads to a cost effective station, which is easy to operate and maintain. By considering purpose, safety and simplicity all together, designers provide reliable, safe, and economical regulation and measurement of gas.
