PR-60-50-R01 Orifice Meter Research Theoretical Study of Flow Through Concentric Orifices
Author(s): Rodger Dowdell,Mason Wilson,Yu-Lin Chen,Raymond Teyssandier
Abstract/Introduction:
Methods have been developed which will permit the calculation of flow patterns and discharge coefficients for concentric orifices of various diameter ratios when used for the measurement of incompressible flow in pipe lines. These methods are based on a three-dimensional, axi-symmetric model and permit the use of various upstream velocity profiles. The overall calculation combines three different analyses for different regions of the flow field. These regions may be classified as the upstream region, downstream converging region and downstream expansion regions. The analysis used in each region is presented in separate sections of the report together with the computer programs used and a sample calculation.
