Abstract: It is well known that the flow conditioner in the front part of a typical turbine flow meter, frequently called stator, has a significant effect on the meter accuracy. Recently, several new designs that achieve effective flow conditioning have been introduced. In the present work, it was decided to investigate the flow field in several such flow conditioning devices by employing numerical flow simulation. Two of these configurations will be discussed presently in more detail, focusing on their effectiveness to reduce incoming swirl.
