Abstract: Electronics technology has been used to calculate gas flow volumes for over twenty (20) years. With the commercialization of the microprocessor in the oil and gas industry ten (10) to twelve (12) years ago, it became possible to calculate many of the AGA factors out in the field. Some six (6) years ago, battery powered flow computer units (FCUs) were introduced. The aim of these devices was to provide a replacement for the three (3) pen round chart and also give field operators a window on the gas volumes at the meter site.
